Friendships have nuanced definitions across the world. In Japan, for instance, friends form “moais,” or lifelong friend groups that commit to navigating life’s ups and downs together. The bond is so strong that these tightly knit groups are often credited with being one of the reasons why a woman’s life expectancy is often as high as 90 years old in Japan. Having good, solid friendships doesn’t just make for good memories or good Instagram photos — it also makes for good health and long, happy lives. Happy #FriendshipDay from all of us on the #BDTeam!
